Shree Bhubaneshwar Thakur’s 137th Welcome Program
Remembrance Meeting – 21st October 2006
To all the devotees assembled in this conference – We all are busy with our own routine life and work.In spite of all the usual business, being together in the remembrance of God, discussion on the religious topics makes human life more meaningful & successful, as said by many wise men. I’m honored and extremely lucky to get a chance to participate in this auspicious occasion of remembrance of Sadhubaba.
Dear devotees – The person who worships god, chants sacred mantras of god throughout his life, he gets the ultimate worth of the human life, else gets indulged into god gifted world’s provocations from many ways commits many sins. At the beginning of the great war of Kurukshetra, whatever advice was given by Lord Krishna to Arjun about life, that is the main content of Shrimadbhagavat Geeta.
Our great Sadhubaba started devoting his life for worshiping god, chanting for god, from his early childhood. With the result of that great devotion the evolution happened for the small group called Vishnupriya Manipuri.
Shreel Bhubaneshwar Thakur was born on 26th October 1871, in a village named Baropoya, in Kachhar district of Assam. His father’s name was Sanatan Pandit and mother’s name was Late Shri Malati Devi. Calm and quiet Sadhubaba was more inclined towards chanting Krishna-naam and was reluctant towards household affairs. In the childhood he learnt grammar and devotional lessons from his father, along with other students. Due to premature death of his mother, the lady Saralmona brought Bhubaneshwar up with all her love and affection. His father passed away when he was 18 years old. After that he went to the King of Tripura’s secretary Meeneshwar Sharbabhoumya Bhattacharya to learn further devotional lessons. By seeing the dedication of Bhubaneshwar towards god, Mr. Bhattacharya gave him the responsibility to worship the god in the Shree Shree Radhamadhav temple. But soon Bhuneshwar started his journey to all holy places with the due permission of Shree Gurudeb. By the blessing of Shree Govinda, Bhuvaneshwar visited the great four holy destinations in four years and reached Shreedham Brindavan. There he took lessons from Shreel Krishnadas Bairagya Thakur, the family member of Shree Naruttam Thakur. He gained the love and respect of all local people by his devotion and dedication. Bhubaneshwar’s life was full of extraordinary phenomenon.
During the meditation in the Kamyavan, Shree Radharani came in front of him disguised as Brajogoalini. She requested him to help her to take down the basket full of fruits and after bath gave him the fruits to him and vanished. This way Sadhubaba was blessed by Shree Radharani. In every Ekadashi, even during winters, chanting of Shreenaam, standing on one leg in the water of Yamuna river is attractive for all Vaishnavs. After seeing the dedication and devotion of Sadhubaba, his Guru was highly pleased and gave him the ‘Thakur’ title.
Sadhubaba came to Navadweep Dham by the instruction of Shree Radharani in his dreams. By seeing his pure Vaishnav attire and overall devotion, the local devotees (Goswamis) gave him place to stay and he started surviving his life by great Madhukari begging. After that he got the opportunity to serve in the temple of Shree Mahaprabhu, for 25 years. And he could arrange Rs. 80,000/- in those days by the help of other devotees from many places, through which he established marbles in the floor of the temple. Till date we have the sign of that great achievement. Sadhubaba went for Jagannath visit by walk to Neelachal. There he meditated and chanted in the same seat for 7 days & nights continuously. By this devotion he was rewarded by giving the opportunity of serving Shree Jagannath for 8 months. After that he came back to Navadweep and completed the remaining work of the temple. It’s known that all the current regulations of Vishupriya Community were written by himself and was checked and approved by Goswamis. Sadhubaba’s Shreenaam chanting was excellent. The people who witnessed the joy and happiness in Shree Tarak Chandra Saha from Shreedham, Kashinath Ray, and Shree Kunjobihari Goswami while the holy chanting, still become happy to recollect that greatness. This way Sadhubaba’s dedication towards Bhajan was able to rejuvenate the endangered principles of Bhajan.
At the other end the against mindset people started protesting saying Shree Harinaam Mahamantra should not be chanted or worshiped. Sadhubaba consulted with all the wise people of Navadweep, Neelachal and Brindavan, collected proofs and notes and published the great book named ‘Shree Shree Harinaam Mangal’. By doing this he removed all the doubts and clarifications on the above mentioned protest. Shreel Praan Gopal Goswami, Siddhanta Ratna helped in Sadhutakur’s holy chanting and worships. The King of Kashimbajar Mungeradhipati, Tarashadipati also encouraged Sadhubaba’s all initiatives and ways. In spite all the great achievements and works of Sadhubaba the against mindset people continued their negative behavior. Therefore Sadhubaba left the place and came to the railway station of Nabadweep Dham. He boarded a train and was waiting inside of it. In the mean time the great Mahaprabhu came into the dreams of Shree Krishna Dutta and reached in the railways station near Shree Sadhu Thakur. Shree Krishna Dutta explained his dream to Shree Sadhu Thakur and convinced him to have Shree Shree Radha Govinda temple established in his land in Gaantala. Gradually many people and Kings started coming to Sadhubaba and helped him to progress more on this great work. By 8 years the marble made Shree Temple was established. The current Shree Shree Radha Govinda temple (Govinda Bari) of Nabadweep’s Gaantala was established by great Sadhubaba. To establish this temple all the devotees of Vishnupriya Manipuri Community also contributed a lot. Please refer more details on Shree Mandir and about Shree Sadhu Thakur in the following books:
